My landlord has refused to put a dead bolt on the front door. Is this a requirement? What is his liability for his actions? He also refused to put any lock on the door going into the garage from the outside of the garage. Is he required to do this?

Texas rental house – double cylinder deadbolts? Hello, We live in a rental house with 5 exterior doors and none of them had a keyless deadbolt installed in accordance with Texas rental property code. We informed the landlord of this and she sent her neighbor who installed double cylinder deadbolts on all the doors except the garage door. My issue is that we now have to use a a key in order to open the door and get out of the house. Are these double cylinder deadbolts legal in Texas and in compliance with Texas Property Code ? My door was recently replaced and it took almost 6 months before they installed a new keyless deadbolt. The problem is the ‘keyless’ part of the deadbolt can be removed and often falls out. Is this within the code for Texas?
